A selection of her work was shown in an exhibition in Hamburg in autumn 2002 entitled "I love my Edding" (brand name of German black marker pen). It was followed by an exhibition in Zurich in 2003 "I love my Edding II". Some of her large format works were shown in the Summer of 2004 at the "Elbart" in Hamburg, a unique exhibition in the old tunnel running under the Elbe River. In 2006 she had an exhibition at the gallery tristesse in Berlin. And 2007 on the Island Sylt at the gallery LängemalBreite. The images and themes in Glenda's paintings are not always easy to digest. They help her to work through her personal as well as worldly dramas. The large format of the artwork allows her to do this in a very honest and direct way and often has a very striking effect. Her work is full of symbolism and simplification giving her figures a very one dimensional character. Of her images and themes she says: "For me they are all about feelings. Primarily about my own but the viewer is welcome to use the images to mirror his/her own emotions. |
